Miami is only a little over 35 miles worth of land area and has a population of approximately four million-nine hundred and nineteen thousand and thirty-six people. The city is sectioned into four separate regions. The main area of Miami is the Downtown area, situated on the eastern side of the city. It includes the neighborhoods of Brickell and WatsonIsland, as well as the Port of Miami and Virginia Key. The Downtown area is the business district and houses major banks, as well as tourist attractions and different financial headquarters. The southern district of Miami is a very historic area that is comprised of the neighborhoods of Coconut Grove, The Roads, and Coral Way. The Coral Way area was built in 1922 and connects the Downtown area to the town of Coral Gables. This area is mostly historic homes. Coconut Grove is also another old neighborhood, having been built in 1825. It houses Miami's City Hall in the region of Dinner Key, as well as a playhouse called the Coconut Grove Playhouse and the CocoWalk. It is also known for its nightclubs and bohemian shops, as well as restaurants and several bars. This area is very popular with college students.
In the western region of Miami, you will find the neighborhoods of West Flagler, Little Havana, and Flagami. Most of the neighborhoods in Western Miami are primarily immigrant neighborhoods with a large population of Central American and Cuban residents. However, the central western community of Allapattah is a more multicultural community. This region includes the Midtown district, which is the Edgewater area, as well as Wynwood.
